University legal status, accreditation and recognition

National aerospace University “KhAI” is a state-owned public educational institution funded by the Ukrainian Government though the Ukrainian State Budget and entitled to provide paid educational and research services to individual persons and companies including the foreign ones.

KhAI has the IV (highest in Ukraine) level of accreditation granted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. In 2000 KhAI received the status of “National” for outstanding performance in education and scientific activity. This status certifies great education quality and ensures extended University rights and additional budget for research activities.

The degrees and diplomas issued by KhAI are recognized by the International Association of Universities IAU/UNESCO (www.iau-aiu.net).

University Academic Structure

The National Aerospace University “KhAI” trains specialists at 7 faculties:

  • Aircraft design
  • Aircraft engines
  • Aircraft control systems
  • Aerospace engineering
  • Aircraft radio technical systems
  • Economics and Managemen
  • Humanities

and three auxiliary units: Advanced and pre-university training, Distance learning, International Education.

Degrees and Diplomas

The University graduates get the following degrees and diplomas:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Science – 4 years of training (B.S.)
  • Specialist – 1-1.5 years training after the Bachelor’s degree obtainment (S.)
  • Master of Engineering Science – 2 years training after the Bachelor’s degree obtainment (M.S.)
  • Candidate of Science – 3 years training after the Master’s degree obtainment
  • Doctor of Science – 3 years training after the Candidate of Science degree obtainment.

Training Programmes

Today KhAI offers 38 Bachelor’s, 54 Master’s and 14 Doctoral Degree Programmes in 18 different fields of study. Full list of KhAI Training Programmes is available at the University official web-site www.khai.edu in Russian and English.

Each training programme consists of three compulsory blocks of disciplines (normative disciplines, disciplines on the University selection, and disciplines on a student’s selection) and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Average academic load is about 30-36 class hours

KhAI’s close relations with key Ukrainian aerospace industrial enterprises help us to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Among them are “ANTONOV” Aircraft Scientific and Technical Complex, "AVIANT" Kyiv State Aircraft Plant, "KHARTRON" Kharkiv Scientific Manufacturing Association, Kharkiv State Aircraft Manufacturing Enterprise, "YUZHNOYE" State Design Bureau,  "PROGRESS" Zaporozhye Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau, "MOTOR SICH " Joint Stock Company, etc.

Training Languages

The majority of KhAI Training Programmes are provided in Ukrainian and Russian languages. But we also have a set of International Oriented Studies (IOS) Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science Programmes in English (full list you can find here). For international students we also propose 1o-month Training Programme at the Preparatory Department for further study at University in Russian.
